The Tank Room

This historic room is where, in 1915, the modern-day tank was conceived of.
A meeting was held in the Summer of 1915 between William Ashbee Tritton, Managing Director of William Foster, a Lincoln engineering firm; his chief draughtsman William Rigby and W. G. Wilson, a Naval Officer.
From this meeting, emerged the designs for what was to become known as the ‘Tank’ and several hundred were subsequently built in Lincoln.
The Tank Room can accommodate 15 guests and is the perfect, memorable setting for smaller milestone celebrations.
Want to celebrate with your nearest and dearest? The Bailgate offers ample room for up to 50 guests to celebrate or gather for any occasion.
