Wedding Ceremonies in Lincoln

A bride and groom kiss under a shower of flower petals, surrounded by smiling bridesmaids and groomsmen in blue attire at one of the most enchanting wedding venues, epitomizing the perfect outdoor weddings.

Lincoln has held wedding ceremonies for the best part of a thousand years. We can put you right in the middle of that. The White Hart Hotel has stood on Bailgate since the 14th century, right in the historic heart of Lincoln, between Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle. Say your vows here and the history comes free: your guests will walk the same cobbled streets that wedding parties have walked for hundreds of years, and on a still evening the Cathedral bells carry the moment a little further than you’d expect.

We hold two licensed ceremony rooms, each with its own character, so you can pick the setting that matches the size and mood of your day. If you’d rather marry in a church first, our neighbours next door can help. You’re welcome to bring the party back to us afterwards, and we’ll take it from there.

Choosing Your Ceremony Room: Royal Courtyard or Bailgate

Not sure which room suits your day? It usually comes down to two things: your guest list and how much light you want.

The Royal Courtyard sits under a glass dome, so daylight pours in from every angle. It holds up to 100 guests, memories worth making under that much sky. Couples who want to move straight from vows to dancing tend to pick this room, since changing rooms halfway through can break the mood right when everyone’s settled in.

The Bailgate Room is smaller and quieter. It’s licensed for up to 40 guests and looks out over the cobbled street it’s named after. Choose it if you want everyone close enough to hear every word.

Civil ceremonies can’t include religious content. That’s the law, and we won’t hide it if that matters to you: couples who want a religious service usually marry next door first, then join us for the reception.

Why Couples Choose Us for Their Wedding Ceremonies in Lincoln

Every wedding here comes with your own wedding planner. They work with you and your registrars from the first booking to the final toast, so nothing slips through the gap.

Being a minute from Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle usually means your photos are sorted. Because your ceremony, your wedding breakfast and your evening party can all happen in the same building, your guests never have to leave, find parking again or ask for directions to somewhere new.
